Follow this step-by-step guide to setting up your Montana Business as a Montana Employer.

Congrats on deciding to start your own business. What fun! And your idea is big enough that you need to hire some people to help you make it all happen. Even better.

In the future we will be adding a module on setting up your business. For now we have a mini course available to help you get ready to hire.

This course is a step-by-step resource to get set up as an employer in the state of Montana and is intended for both business owners or bookkeepers or accountants assisting with this set up.

PRE-REQUISITES:

This mini course assumes you already have the following:

  • A business registered with the Secretary of State of Montana
  • An EIN issued by the IRS
  • A business bank account

Be sure you have these three things first. If not, go get them and come back here when you are ready.

If you need assistance setting up your business or have questions about securing any of the items above, please get in touch with us directly.

TIMELINE:

Although the steps don't take long to complete, please allow yourself at least four weeks to complete your set up which allows for items to be mailed to you from the government.

Hi, I'm Steph.

After going through these steps a million times (only a slight exaggeration), I wrote this course to save time, money, and brain cells for future clients, colleagues, and business owners.

Steph naturally creates order out of chaos, she can’t help herself, it’s her super power.

She’s worked in various parts of small business accounting since 2002. Everything from bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparation to management, directorship and entrepreneurship. Her favorite things about work? The puzzles – solving them and getting the pieces to fall into place. And the people – helping them understand how the pieces fit too.

Steph loves dancing, especially outside. An avid hiker, after 24 years in Bozeman, she relocated to Phoenix and is exploring the Arizona mountains in the endless sunshine.
